Six Out of Seven: A Writing Update from the Journey

I’m excited to share a milestone in the writing journey of Profit Seeks Purpose—I’ve now completed drafts of six out of the seven chapters.
To be honest, I was stuck on Chapter 3 for what felt like forever. But something shifted this past week, and I found myself back in flow—writing with clarity, momentum, and even joy. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of sitting down and getting lost in the work, scene after scene unfolding.
My original goal was to publish the book by July. That didn’t happen. Life and learning curves slowed me down. But now I’m setting my sights on a new, more realistic target: publication by the end of September. And this time, I believe I can hit it.
What’s the holdup now? Not writing—thankfully—but the investment it takes to publish well.
While I’m planning to self-publish, I want this book to be excellent. Not perfect, but deeply worthwhile—both in message and in presentation. That means investing in:
- A skilled editor to sharpen the prose
- A compelling, professional cover design
- Interior layout that reads cleanly in print and on Kindle
- And possibly more behind-the-scenes support
At first, I thought self-publishing meant low cost and quick turnaround. Silly me! I’ve since had some great conversations with wise friends who’ve helped me think through the financial commitment this stage requires. It’s not cheap—but it’s worth it.
And here’s what’s giving me confidence: this book is becoming something I truly believe in.
With six of seven chapters in place, I can see it coming together. The story is speaking. The characters are deepening. And the message—about integrating purpose and profit—is coming through more clearly than ever.
Thanks for walking with me on this journey. I’ll keep you posted as the finish line comes into view.
